I have been collecting this collage material for around six years, seduced by it's harsh colour palette, the sweaty buttercream textures, and the tacky playful characters. For me, the novelty birthday cake optimises the creativity of parenthood, but also the absurd level of hidden labour involved in playing the parent role.
